How can VMukti support be summarised?

slow, super slow and barely existent.

a whole month of asking for example asterisk configs as they apply to vmukti meeting place and still nothing.
epsxe an open source playstation emulator.. had a problem.. got an answer in 3 days!
asterisk problem, asked on their forums and got an answer in 1 day!
MySQL problem, asked on their forums and got an answer in 1 hour!

time to work on the support guys.
well, since the vmukti devs feels it fine to say their software works with asterisk and then neglects half of the relevant information to make it work..
I have to say I can't recommend this solution to any one.

I made this post a month ago, I've made repeated requests on the vmukti.com shoutbox for
the example sip.conf/extensions.com/meetme.conf that were supposed to be packaged with meetme.
(please see the readme pdf and the section called external pbx and how it clearly says to replace said files with 'provided files' that are NOT provided)

All requests have gone unheeded so that just tells me their support is going to be dodgy as well.

Maybe when the vmukti devs do a better job of documenting things and learn to package their software better (something about binaries.zip just doesn't sit well with me.. how about meetme-0.6_final.zip?) I can say vmukti is a fine solution, but at this point thats a long way off.
Hello Everyone.

So I've got the latest version of meeting place (0.6 final) configured and I get video
but how to configure asterisk?
I found an old doc in google cache from when these guys had this on the 1videoconference website
(which I think 1vc sounded better than vmukti.. how you even pronounce that?)

it says to create extensions 1110-1116 in sip.conf but I had a test user getting extension 1118.
it says to create an extension 680000 for the conference.. I created exten => 680000,1,MeetMe(680000) and yes I put that in the meetme.conf as well .. no dice. then I find this software is making new conference extensions like 680006 and 680008... wtf!!!!!

help please.

(note to the vmukti devs.. please document the vmukti -> asterisk connection better please!!!)
Hello JohnM
I have got all the versions of the code using SVN.But I can not get a .csproj file. And I use the vs.net 2005 build a solution with four projects. and always miss the NetPeerService NameSpace.

jsu
I tried to get input from the VMukti guys on NetPeerService also through their shoutbox and the contact form on the www.vmukti.com homepage. I got NO RESPONSE.

I am starting to doubt whether this is a real open source project.. The NetPeerSeervice seems to be the namespace where all the magic happens and exactly this namespace is not public.
VMukti aims at growing platform for Video Collaboration, Broadcasting & Sharing for Web & Phone users to become market leader by meeting fastest growing demand from industry, business and social sector globally.

Any feedback is appreciated.
As a collaborative platform, VMukti will become the enabler to flattening of the world and bridging of digital divide, whether it is treating US patients remotely from India or from India teaching African Students remotely.
Services that can be outsourced will be outsourced. Outsourcing and Off-shoring across all industry sectors is happening. Collaboration and Unified Communication is key ingredient to the success of Off-shore outsourcing.
Software and services like VMukti will serve a great social cause of bridging the digital divide by enabling tele-education, tele-health and tele-governance for the under-privileged communities.
Here are my thoughts on why products like VMukti are required:

There's an increasing demand of P2P unified communications platform that allows Web 2.0 to collaborate & share Rich Media contents & modules.
With the explosive growth of broadband users, Market needs to deliver innovative IP based services like IPTV, IPPBX, etc.,
Government and NGOs and people have shown increasing inclination towards open source software.
Because of increasing network security threats, industry will require Firewall and NAT friendly Collaboration software.
Market requires an all-in-one web 2.0 software that enables cost effective video broadcasting, streaming & conferencing.
As the world is getting "flatter", more and more organizations across the world require rich media social collaboration and service delivery platform to cater to their customers. VMukti aims to fill the gap.
With Real-time Video communication getting popular, to avoid large servers, high bandwidth, & Proprietary hardware/ software cost, organizations are increasingly looking forward to OS P2P grid computing conferencing software like VMukti.

Any more thoughts on this?

Based on a recent feedback that audio was not working, a quick work around has been applied. Audio should work. Please confirm.

Also, there was an unnecessary restriction on the meeting page that would only allow up to 6 participants in the conference. That restriction has been taken off.

Would love to hear your feedback about this build.
